MariDeck vinyl flooring adhesive for plywood decks
MariDeck vinyl flooring adhesive MD-101 is a water-based glue made specifically for marine vinyl floors. It performs best on wood, so it is the one to use on marine plywood decks. One gallon covers about 125 square feet.
Why use MariDeck vinyl flooring adhesive?
MariDeck recommends its own adhesive for the best bond. If you use a different one, it must be PVC-compatible, or it can affect how the vinyl looks, bonds and performs. Choose the adhesive by the floor surface, not by the vinyl. For example, MD-101 is for unsealed plywood, while solvent-based MD-102 is for aluminum, fiberglass and sealed wood.
How to apply MD-101
- Start with a surface that is clean, dry and free of debris.
- Shake the container for 60 seconds before you open it. The glue should then look like thick white paint.
- Roll the adhesive on evenly with a paint roller, and avoid puddling.
- Roll the vinyl onto the adhesive right away, while the glue is still wet. No waiting time is needed.
- If the adhesive turns clear, apply more.
- Finally, press the vinyl down with a heavy roller or a push broom, so it makes full contact with the deck.
Tips for a good bond
The adhesive dries fairly fast, depending on the temperature. Therefore, if you are working alone, glue no more than 15 linear feet at a time. Also, follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
Flooring that uses this adhesive
Use MD-101 on unsealed plywood decks under 34 mil, 80 mil and woven MariDeck vinyl flooring. However, for DuraVinyl flooring, use 390 Professional adhesive instead.
